Research Abstract |
Each resarcher arrenged his field data and presented one of his topic through analysing his data in study meeting, which was held 3 times in 1989 in the National Museum of Ethnology. These topics are followed: June 20, 1989 Saito: Family of the Yabio and the Kilenge Kawasaki: Notion on knowledge among the Bahinemo September 28 and 29 Toyoda: Totemism; on relationship between marital rules among the Mari Yamada: Voices in the dreams; sound perception of the Waxei Yoshida: Location of spirits; basic concept of Iwam magic October 20, 1989 Kamimura: Preliminary report on the social structure of the Alfundi Kumagai: Migration among the peoples in the tributaries south of the Sepik Some of these topics have been already published in journals or books. We are preparing papers for special issue of Senri Ethnological Studies which is published in foreign language, mainly in English, by the museum. The issue will be titled as' Between the Hightlands and the lowlands: the tributaries of the Sepik, Papua New Guinea. ' and will bi published in 1991.
