Research Abstract |
Beam-induced stochastic signals have been measured in an RFQ cavity with a spectrum analyzer. Experimental results are compared with theoretical predictions calculated with an assumption of incoherent particle oscillations. A preliminary assignment is given for stochastic peaks on measured spectra. In order to investigate the effect of beam oscillations on the electromagnetic field in the cavity, voltage distributions have been analyzed using an equivalent circuit model. Approximate quantitative predictions of the voltage distribution have been successfully obtained for cavities with mismatched beam-envelope oscillations.
