Research Abstract

1. At MIT-Bates Lab.; Transverse elastic and inelastic form factors for low-lying levels in ^<117>Sn in the momentum transfer range q= 1.2-2.4 fm^<-1>, and the ^<41>Ca elastic magnetic form factors in the q range from 0.9 to 2.0 fm^<-1>, have been measured by 180゚ electron scattering. The quenching from the predictions of the extreme single -particle model has been observed for both ^<117>Sn and ^<41>Ca. The first order core-polarization effects and meson exchange current(MEC) corrections have been investigated comparing the new data.
2. At SLAC Stanford University; The cross sections for 180゚ deuteron electrodisintegration have been measured near threshold for Q^2-range 1.21 to 2.77 (GeV/C)^2. Nonrelativistic calculations based on both meson-nucleon and hybrid quark-hadron models are not in quantitative agreement with the new data. The necessity of relativistic model is pointed out.
