Research Abstract |
In succession of the pre-survey carried in August 1988, we two of members proceeded to the main survey in Feng-xian county of Shanghai surburbs. The work was done in cooperation with the members of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. The survey is composed of two subjects. One is finding official documents and the other is putting questions to peasants. First we succeeded in collecting such official records, as records of Land Reform offered by the house of documents at Feng-xiancounty and household registers offered by Safe Guard Bureau of Shanghai city. Secondly we asked peasants, who lived in five natural villages of Tang-jia village, questions on the socioeconomic changes from pre-revolutional period till today. The items qestions are family composition, labour force composition, farm household economy, the way of farm management, family income, working condition, social status, educational condition, marriage condition, social network of peasantsp, etc. The date collected mentioned above made it possible to analyse how a rural community of Shanghai suberbs experienced political movements as Land Reform and Socialistic Reform. We are now in analising to make it cleare if those political movements carried after revolution couldfundamentally change the traditonal raral communities in China.
