| Research Abstract |
Under the terms of an Agreement for Cultural and Scientific collaboration concluded by the Bunkacho and the Smithsonian institution, a delegation from Japan visited Washington during the period January 20-24, 1989, to discuss with Smithsonian Isnt. Staffmembers the subjects and mechanisms for a collaborative program of research on the Conservation and technical studies of Far Eastern Bronzes and Ceramics. At this meeting, the following subjects were selected as topics for collaborative research. 1. Data Base on Lead Isotope Analyses on Far Eastern Objects and Source Materials. 2. Bronze Disease and Corrosion Mechanism of Bronze. 3. Gilding on Ancient Far Eastern Bronzes. 4. Mold Manufacture, Casting Technology and other Metallurgical Aspects of Far Eastern Bronzes. 5. Technological and Compositional Studies of Jomon Pottery. The program will be operated by an american and a Japanese Coordinators for each subject.
