Research Abstract |
In this project, following ten topics covering systematically whole area of language information transmission aids for sensory impairment were settled. A. Transmission of letter information for visual impairment 1. Letter information processing for visual enhancement 2. Tactile and aural presentation of letter information 3. Braille information processing 4. Substitution of vision through speech input/output B. Transmission of speech information for auditory impairment 1. Speech information processing for auditory enhancement 2. Visual and tactile presentation of speech 3. Signing information processing 4. Substitution of hearing through letter input/output Future plan of the effective organization of the research activities in this field in Japan was discussed, based on detailed analysis of pregent status on each of those topics. A report on the prospect of research on sensory aids for language information transmission inside and outside Japan will be published along with a comprehensive database of references.
