1 This paper intend to trace the his torical change, the system and the function of the groups of carpenters and claritty the characteristics of them from the folklore point of view, we took the cases of carpenter group in Rikuzentakata Iwate prefecture and Kyoto. 2 Rikuzentakata, From early times there are workmen who go for work in another part of the country, who are called Kesen daiku, We can find following four typical workmen groups : Workmen association, Carpenter - plasterers shinkokai whose members go for work in another part of the country.
