Outline of Annual Research Achievements

当初の計画通り、東京大学木曽観測所の1.05mシュミット望遠鏡と広視野カメラKWFC (Kiso Wide Field Camera)を用いて、Advanced LIGOからの重力波アラートを受けた突発天体サーベイ観測を行った。平成２７年９月より、Advanced LIGOの第一期観測(O1)が行われ、重力波イベントが2例検出されている（重力波源 GW 150914、GW151226）。J-GEM (Japanese collaboration of Gravitational wave Electro-Magnetic follow-up)グループとして事前に結んでいた覚書に基づき、これらの重力波天体の情報を受け取り、KWFCを用いて広域の突発天体探査観測を実施した。GW150914に関しては平成２７年度中に結果をまとめ、既に論文を出版している。平成２８年度はGW151226に対して行なったフォローアップ観測に関して、データ解析、突発天体検出と論文執筆を行なった。GW151226のアラート時の位置決定精度は約1400平方度であったが、KWFCでは778平方度に及ぶ広域探査を実行することができた。このデータを解析した結果、13個の銀河系外突発天体を発見した。Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)の撮像・分光データに基づき距離を算出したところ、そのうち6天体が、重力波から推定された距離の範囲内にあることが分かった。それらの突発天体の絶対等級は全て-19等程度であり、Ia型超新星ほどの明るさをもっていたため、6天体とも重力波天体ではないと結論づけた。これらの結果をJ-GEM全体のフォローアップ観測結果と一緒にまとめ、論文を出版した。
