Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、金属ナノ粒子の局在プラズモン共鳴を利用することで、局在振動電場を生じるプラズモニックアンテナ界面を作り、それらを人工光合成系に適用することを目的としている。プラズモニックアンテナ界面は、金属ナノ粒子を光アンテナとみなし、粒子近傍に存在する色素や半導体の励起効率を向上させる系と、金属ナノ粒子と酸化チタンなどの半導体界面で起こるプラズモン誘起電荷分離(PICS)を利用する系の2つに大きく分類できる。
前者については、新しい光アンテナとして、金-銀合金ナノ粒子のPICSに伴う銀の溶出(脱合金化)を利用して、近赤外域にプラズモン共鳴を示すポーラスナノ粒子を作製することに成功した。金-銀合金の脱合金化およびそれに伴うポーラス化は、これまで化学的あるいは電気化学的手法で行われてきたが、本研究では光電気化学的な脱合金化にはじめて成功した。さらに、粒子がポーラス化した段階で自動的に銀の溶出が停止することが明らかとなり、従来法では難しかった、粒径25ナノメートル以下のポーラスナノ粒子の作製が可能となった。このようなプラズモニックポーラスナノ粒子は、近赤外領域の光アンテナとして利用できるだけではなく、半導体光触媒の助触媒などとしての応用も期待できる。
後者については、平成27年度に引き続き、PICSにおける酸化電位の支配因子について検討を行った。PICSに伴って金ナノ粒子の表面が水酸化することが明らかとなり、その照射波長および電解液のpH依存性から、酸化チタンのフラットバンド電位から金ナノ粒子が吸収した光子のエネルギー分だけ正側の電位が酸化電位に相当することがわかった。PICSを人工光合成系における水分解反応などに適用する上で、酸化電位に関する情報は極めて重要であり、本研究によってPICSに基づく光触媒の設計指針が得られたといえる。
