Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas (Research in a proposed research area)
本年度の研究では、昨年度に開発したロジウム二核骨格を1,8-Anthracene dicarboxylic acid (H2Ant)または2,7-di-t-butyl-9,9-dimethyl xanthene-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (H2Xan)で架橋連結した"Dimer-of-dimer型ロジウム四核錯体"[Rh4(Ant)(O2CCH3)6]及び[Rh4(Xan)(O2CCH3)6]の光水素発生メカニズムを調査する事を目的として、電気化学測定から得られた酸化還元電位と酸解離定数を基に、量子化学計算によって反応メカニズムの調査を行なった。その結果、ロジウム四核錯体は、光増感剤によって一電子還元された直後に水溶液中のプロトンを酸化的付加し、ヒドリド反応中間体を形成する事が明らかになった。また、水素発生は三電位還元種の形成が必要不可欠である事も突き止める事に成功した。この他に、同様の架橋配位子を使用した新規ロジウム二核錯体として、[Rh2(HAnt)(O2CCH3)3]及び[Rh2(HXan)(O2CCH3)3]の開発と構造解析に成功した。これらのロジウム二核錯体は、架橋カルボン酸の片方がカルボン酸として存在しており、ロジウム二核骨格の軸以上に存在している為、Proton-coupled electron transfer(PCET)機構で水素発生が見込めると考えらる。このような、金属-金属間結合を有する多核重金属錯体とPCET機構の組み合わせはこれまでに前例が無いオリジナリティのある研究成果であると考えれる。更には、ロジウム二核錯体を塩素で架橋配位させた[Rh4Cl4(O2CCH3)4]が水素発生反応において優れた水素発生触媒となる事も明らかにできた。
