Outline of Annual Research Achievements

長鎖アルキル基は、アルキル鎖間でスタッキングにより配向するため、分子の配列化を促進するには有効である。しかし、これまでに合成されたPillar[n]areneでは、アルキル鎖の長さが十分ではなく(最長でペンチル基C5)、Pillar[n]areneの分子配向を促進するには十分な長さを有してはいなかった。そこで、六角形のPillar[6]areneを並べる新たな手法として、本研究では長鎖アルキル基を導入したPillar[6]areneを合成し、その分子配列をPXRDから確認した。その結果、アルキル鎖長が長くなるにつれ、明確な二次元ヘキサゴナル構造を形成することが分かった。またアルキル鎖長が長くなると、ヘキシル鎖(C6)までは融点が低下し、その後に融点が上昇するという現象が見られた。C6を有するPillar[6]areneは、その融点が40度程度であり、一度融解すると、室温においては長時間結晶化しないということが分かった。そこで、液体状態のC6を有するPillar[6]areneの温度変化XRD測定を行った。その結果、(001)面に由来するピークが6度付近に、πスタックに由来するピークが20度付近に確認された。液体状態においても配向性を有しており、構造性液体であることが分かった。液体状態のC6を有するPillar[6]areneの蒸気吸着特性について調べた。その結果、Pillar[6]areneの空孔サイズに適したシクロヘキサン蒸気を吸着すると、液体から固体へと状態変化が起こることが分かった。シクロヘキサン蒸気が空孔内部に取り込まれることが、状態変化を起こすスイッチになることが分かった。
