Outline of Annual Research Achievements

新規化学気相成長法を用いるアセン型GNRの表面合成を目指した。我々が開発した2ゾーン型ラジカル重合化学気相成長法(Adv.Mater., 26, 4134 (2014))を用い、分子設計した原料分子(ポリフェニレン化合物)を、高い反応性を持つ気固界面で重合・脱水素縮環することにより、従来困難であった、分子幅を制御した「アセン型GNR」の合成と機能探索を目的とした。また、走査トンネル顕微鏡(STM)を用いて、金属表面上に合成したアセン型GNRの分子レベルでの可視化や走査トンネル分光による電子状態(バンドギャップ)計測、ナノギャップ電極を電子線微細加工装置により作製しアセン型GNRの末端に電極接合した素子を作成し、電気物性(電導度やキャリア移動度)を探索することを目的とした。今年度は、幅の異なるアセン型GNRの表面合成に必要な前駆体分子であるZ型構造を持つ4個のベンゼン環を持つDBQP分子と6個のベンゼン環を持つポリフェニレン化合物を有機合成した。これらを用いて我々が開発した2ゾーン方化学気相成長法により、金(111)基板上に幅の異なるアセン型GNRを合成した。走査トンネル顕微鏡を用いて、分子構造を測定した結果、予想通りの分子幅でアセン型GNRが合成できたことを確認した。更にトンネル分光測定により、幅の異なるアセン型GNRの電子状態(バンドギャップ)を明らかにした。また、金(111)上に作成したアセン型GNRをシリコン基板上に転写し、間隔が500nm程度のナノギャップ電極を電子線微細加工装置により作製し、トランジスタ特性を計測した。その結果、キャリア移動度が0.26 cm2V-1s-1、オンオフ値約100となり、アセン型GNRが優れた半導体特性を持つことを明らかにした。
