Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、様々なπ電子系物質に対し歪み効果を印加可能なシステムを開発することで、物性の向上や既存物質にはない機能の発見を目指すと共に、これを利用したデバイス開発を目的とした。
本年度は、前年度に開発したの歪み印加プローブを用いて、実際に有機強相関物質に対して基板の湾曲による"歪み効果"の印加を試みた。強相関電子系物質であるκ-d8-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu[N(CN)2]Cl (κ-d-Cl)の薄片単結晶を基板上に貼り付け、歪み印加下における電気抵抗値測定を行った。圧縮歪みの印加に伴い抵抗値は次第に減少し、金属状態、パーコレーション超伝導状態を経て、約1 %の歪みにより超伝導体へと歪み誘起相転移を示した。この結果は、κ-Clの圧力誘起モット転移とも良い一致を示しており、本システムにおける歪み誘起相転移が、歪みの印加に伴う結晶への実効的な圧力によるバンド幅制御型モット転移であることを示唆している。更にZFC-FC磁化測定によりシールディング/マイスナーフラクションを測定したところ、歪みの印加に伴いいずれのフラクションも次第に増加する様子が観測された。この結果は、歪み効果によって絶縁体/超伝導体転移を観測した初めての例であり、開発した歪み印加システムの有用性が示されたものであると考えられる。
