革新的有機光エレクトロニクスに向けた有機半導体の3D活性サイト材料科学

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、有機半導体デバイス物性の鍵となる分子レベル(1 nm)から実薄膜レベル(100 nm)間に介在するメゾスコピック階層領域での3D活性サイト構造に着目し、有機半導体分子の集積・配向を制御するアプローチに基づき、高効率・高性能な有機光エレクトロニクスデバイスの創製を目的として研究に取り組み、以下の成果を得た。
1.電荷輸送性有機半導体における3D活性サイト構造設計・制御およびトランジスタ特性
π拡張縮環分子骨格中に3つのカルコゲンを含有するヘテロアセン化合物を新規に設計・合成し、溶液プロセスを用いた有機単結晶トランジスタおよび有機薄膜トランジスタの作製、電荷輸送特性の評価を行った。導入したカルコゲンに基づく化学構造と電荷輸送特性の関係を調べた。これら3種類の化合物を用いたいずれの単結晶トランジスタにおいて、1 cm2/Vsを超える高いキャリア移動度が得られ、良好なp型トランジスタ特性を示した。特に、ヘテロ元素として硫黄を導入した化合物は、セレンやテルルを導入した化合物と比較して著しく高い電荷輸送特性を示すことが明らかとなった。電荷輸送メカニズムの理論解析についても検討を行った。
2.発光性有機半導体における3D活性サイト構造設計・制御および電界発光特性
有機LEDの高効率化に向けて、最適な活性サイト構造を構築することにより、内部および外部量子効率を極限まで向上できる材料系の構築について検討を行った。熱活性化遅延蛍光を発現する高効率青色発光材料および有機LEDデバイスの開発に成功し、約20%の高い外部量子効率を達成した。また、これらの発光性有機半導体の技術を利用して、近赤外光を可視光へ変換可能な有機光アップコンバージョンデバイスを開発した
