Outline of Annual Research Achievements

申請者らは、空気界面側に光反応性のアゾベンゼンを有する高分子をスキン層として設けることで、液晶高分子の配向を光化学的にコマンド制御できることを見出した。前年度はそれまで面内制御に加えて面外制御も可能であることを示した。
平成28年度は、シアノビフェニル系の側鎖型高分子を用いて、薄膜中でのメソゲン配向の制御に関して重要な知見である、空気側と基板側のメソゲン配向を精査した。また、これまで空気界面からの光配向制御に関して、高分子スキン層(約20 nm膜厚)を用いてきたが、水面単分子膜を用いて、単分子層1層のみを表面に転写した膜においても、膜中のメソゲンの配向変化が認められることが分かった。単分子層で効果があることを示した意義は大きい。
アゾベンゼン系液晶高分子膜の表面へのブロック共重合体をインクジェット塗布することにより、紫外光照射によってそこを起点として大きな物質移動が観測されることが分かった。塗布する高分子物質によって物質移動が観測される場合とされない場合があることが分かり、現在その要因について検討中である。
