Outline of Annual Research Achievements

植物は、病原体由来の成分を直接的に認識する免疫システムに加えて、細胞壁を利用して病原体の侵入を間接的に感知するシステムを備えている。これまでに植物の細胞壁多糖類であるオリゴガラクツロン酸(OG; oligogalacturonic acid)が、膜受容体であるWAK(wall-associated kinase)を介して自身によって認識され、DAMP(damage- associated molecular pattern)として機能していることが見出されてきた。植物の細胞壁には、オリゴガラクツロン酸以外に多様な多糖類があり、それらもDAMPとして機能する可能性が考えられる。そこで、オリゴガラクツロン酸以外の細胞壁多糖類がDAMP活性を有するかを、活性酸素種(ROS)生成の誘導活性を指標にして解析を行った。その結果、オリゴガラクツロン酸以外で、シロイヌナズナまたはゼニゴケに対してDAMP活性を有する多糖類があることを見出すことに成功した。活性を示した細胞壁多糖類について、活性本体を調べるための更なる解析を進めている。

また、リン酸化プロテオームの変動解析により同定した、オリゴガラクツロン酸刺激によりリン酸化制御を受ける因子の幾つかについて、T-DNA挿入変異体を単離し、形質転換体を作出して、詳細な機能解析を進めた。その結果、幾つかの新奇因子については、病害抵抗性に関与していることが分かった。
