Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は,分子化学進化においてアモルファス氷の誘電物性が及ぼす影響を解明することを目的としている.星間分子雲や原子惑星系において,氷の構造が紫外光や熱により変化することが知られている.光・熱の履歴によって氷の構造がどのように経時変化するのかを明らかにしておくことは,氷表面で起こる分子進化過程を理解する上でも極めて重要である.昨年度は,モデル単結晶Pt(111)基板上に作製した種々の膜厚の強誘電アモルファス氷が①均一核成長により結晶化する事,②回転自由度と並進自由度が独立して熱力学的に安定な構造に緩和している事を明らかにした.
今年度は,上記の実験に引き続いて実験装置にD2ランプを組み込み.紫外光照射に起因するアモルファス氷の構造変化を解明することを試みた.また,分子雲の星間氷に共存しうる始原的なCOやNH3分子との共吸着によって発現する氷の強誘電性について調べた.その結果,COと共吸着させたPt(111)上の氷は強誘電性を発現させるのに対し,NH3と共吸着させたPt(111)上の氷は常誘電状態をとることが明らかになった.Pt(111)上のNH3分子は,N原子がPtに配位結合するH-up配向をとるため,NH3分子と共吸着させた氷はH-upの配向秩序を持つ強誘電氷となる事を予想していた.この予想に反し,NH3と共吸着させたPt(111)上の氷が常誘電氷になるという結果は,NH3分子のH-up配向秩序が水分子の共吸着により変調されることを示唆している.本研究により,2種分子の共吸着によって互いの分子の配向構造が変調を受け,純粋系とは異なる誘電物性を示しうることを実証する事ができた.この知見は,分子化学進化によって刻一刻と元素組成が変化する分子雲中の氷は,その組成に応じて強誘電性も時々刻々と変化させている事を示唆する.星間氷の強誘電性を決定する重要なファクターを解明する事ができた.
