Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、カーボンナノチューブにおける電子の角運動量状態を明らかにすること、そして、電子格子結合を介して、電子系の角運動量が格子系に伝達する状況を理論的手法により調べることを目的としている。この研究を通じ、異種量子間の結合や散逸の微視的なメカニズムの探求といった基礎科学への寄与や、さらには高効率で駆動する回転子などの応用への道筋を与えることを目指している。
昨年度までの研究で、ナノチューブに閉じ込められた電子がどのような角運動量状態を取るのかを様々な螺旋度のナノチューブに対して調べた。その結果、多くのナノチューブでは谷状態が結合するため、2つの谷に由来する軌道の縮退が解かれることが明らかとなった。この場合、電子数が奇数の場合には不対電子の存在によりナノチューブにスピンが生じる。このような状況を、よく用いられる量子ドットモデルでモデル化した。さらに電子スピンとナノチューブ格子との結合に関し、角運動量の伝達する状況のモデル化を行った。それらのモデルをもとに、角運動量移行に伴う回転機構を用いた回転子として、スピンフィルタ構造を有し、かつ、軸周りに自由に運動できる自立チューブ構造を提案し、理論モデルを提唱した。この系の回転の様子を調べるため、マスター方程式の方法で系の時間発展を定式化し、数値計算プログラムを開発した。開発したプログラムにより数値計算を実行することで、電子スピンの反転に伴い回転子が回転する様子を示した。
さらに、昨年度までの研究でナノチューブの有効一次元格子模型を開発し、これによりナノチューブの低エネルギーの電子状態を定量的に再現することが可能となった。有効一次元格子模型をもとに、ナノチューブ-超伝導ハイブリッド構造の解析を行い、伝導に寄与する角運動量状態に着目し、超伝導ギャップ中に端状態が現れることを明らかとした。
