Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の究極の目標は、宇宙の加速膨張を自然に説明し得るスカラー場(ディラントン場)の直接的な地上探索である。レーザー場の準平行衝突系における光子-光子散乱によって共鳴場を直接生成し、その長寿の場を別のレーザーによって誘導崩壊させることが原理的に可能である。しかし、真空容器内の原子起因の背景光が最大の問題となる。準平行衝突系はレーザーをレンズで集光することで実現でき、超高真空度は集光点の極近傍で実現できればよいが、焦点付近の光路途中に原子群である窓材を導入することは許されない。この窓材のない中間の差動排気系を導入する手法について試行錯誤した結果、レーザー光を複数回集光しながら転送する方法を考案した。残余原子は分子流としてランダムに熱拡散しているのに対して、レーザー光は特定の方向と場所へガイドが可能である。レーザー集光点は100μm以下の小さな領域に閉じ込められるため、そこにピンホールの壁を立てることにより、残余気体に対して極微小コンダクタンスのオリフィスを形成できる。したがって、超高真空の相互作用真空容器とレーザー転送用の低真空度の真空系との間に、この微小オリフィスを入口と出口に持つ中間の差動排気系を挿入すれば良いことになる。本年度はこの集光転送を実装するためのパラボラミラーを4枚備える具体的な中間差動排気システムの設計案を作成する段階まで到達できた。加えて、本研究のアプローチに基づく将来的な拡張として、より高質量域の暗黒物質探索へ向けた非対称エネルギー光子光子衝突系を着想し、探索感度を定量化した。この感度見積は査読付き論文として出版された。本研究に関連して、国際共同研究者らと共に国際会議(Light driven Nuclear-Particle physics and Cosmology 2017, LNPC’17)を共同主催し研究成果を報告した。
