Outline of Annual Research Achievements

マウスが意思決定を行うためにTジャンクションに近づくと、嗅内野皮質(EC)3層にシータ波のコヒーレンスの緩やかな増大が見られる。EC(EC2/3層+EC5層)と海馬CA1の情報連絡を再現する局所回路モデルを構築し、行動依存のシータ波の変化の再現に成功した。このモデルの主な予言を列挙すると、1.ワーキングメモリの呼び出し時には、CA1の興奮性細胞と抑制性細胞にコリン作動性の活性化が起こる。2. ワーキングメモリ回路が一時記憶を保持する場合としていない場合とでは、シータ波に対するスパイク発火のECとCA1の位相が課題遂行中に動的に変化する。3. 一時記憶の局所回路内での読み出しと移送に於いて、実験で示唆されたガンマ波の役割りは、シータ波のそれに比較すると重要ではない。ただしガンマ波の存在は、局所回路外部からの情報の読み出しを促進することがわかった。最終年度はこれらの予言の検証を山本、利根川らの実験グループからデータを入手して試みた(Yamamoto et al., Cell 2014)。ただ残念ながら実験データではCA1のスパイク数が不足しており、あらゆる方法を試みたものの、統計的に有意な結果を得ることは出来なかった。また年度初めに計画した、ガンマ波とシータ波の結合状態のモデルに依る再現は、実験データの解析に時間がかかったため思うように進捗しなかった。そこで現在、他のグループが公開している実験データにもあたり、理論の予言と実験的検証を統合する論文の作成に注力している。ただし科研費で雇用していたポスドクが大学に就職することが決まるなど、時間的制約が厳しいことを考慮し、不本意ではあるが回路モデルのみ発表することも考えている。
