Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究はアンデス考古学における高精度古環境復元と編年再構築を大目的とし,樹木年輪の安定同位体比分析を用いた高精度環境復元をナスカ地域を中心に主要文化層に対して広く展開し,アンデス考古学でこれまでに分析された放射性炭素年代をもとに高確度考古学編年を再構築する,二つの研究課題を並行して推進するものであった。
樹木年輪の同位体比分析では,紀元前1千年期後半から西暦1500年ごろまでの古材を対象に年輪気候学的アプローチから高時間解像度の古環境情報の抽出を試み,分析試料の拡充を通して基礎データを倍増させることに成功した。また,放射性炭素年代データの集成から,アンデス考古学における編年研究の時間解像度を精査し,ベイズ推定から高精度な時空間情報を伴う考古学編年の整備を行うことで,現状における問題点を提示するとともに応用発展の可能性について議論した。これらの研究から得られた高精度な環境変動履歴と高確度文化編年を対比,統合することで,当時の社会や文化と環境との関連性について検証を試みた。
一方で,本研究を通して,通常法では分析が難しかった微量試料や自動前処理システムの構築を成功させ,またその安定的な運用に向けた検証実験を継続して実施した。これにより,質の高い分析データの量産化を果たすことができ,本研究を始め当該新学術領域研究の推進に大きく貢献した。また,これら分析技術の発展から,試料調製技術と分析化学の観点からさらなる課題が見出され,同位体分析を高品質に維持しより効率化した研究展開を進めるための新しい道筋を明確化することができた。
