Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas (Research in a proposed research area)
The second research year, 2018, brought a surprising breakthrough: the much needed further investigation into fundamental methodological and theoretical cornerstones as much of the mother project 新学術領域研究「グローバル関係学」 as of my individual integrated research project in hand led to unexpected new insights, which were in part in 2018 already disseminated in diverse international lectures. The most outstanding result of this is the establishment of a new undergraduate course at Tsukuba University, the design, organization and implementation of which I was entrusted with: “One-Planet Relational Studies in Literature and Culture”. Co-operation in the larger framework of the新学術領域研究 was enormously inspiring and fruitful and is proof to the outstanding productivity of this particular research organization under Prof. Keiko Sakai (Chiba University). Some of my research results were already disseminated in 3 papers, 9 international conference presentations and 2 international symposiums which I organized.However, for this breakthrough in methodology and theory, the final, rather marginal part of the prior research plan, i.e. Japanese perspectives on the refugee crisis, had to be temporarily abandoned and postponed to later investigations.In two international conferences in summer 2019 I will present additional final results for this research project. This will hopefully lead to more and new international and national research co-operations.
