Outline of Annual Research Achievements

グラフェンナノリボン(GNR)は、“有限幅を持つグラフェン”すなわち一次元炭素細線であり、分子幅やエッジ端構造に依存した電子的性質を持つことが理論的に予測されている。しかし完全共役系を達成する重合 水素縮環反 が難しく不融 不溶であるため、これまで微細加工技術を用いたトップダウン手法によるカーボンナノチューブ開裂形成や原料分子の超高真空蒸着重合などのボトムアップ法による極微量合成は報告されているものの、化学構造を規定したGNRの簡便な合成法の確立は未開拓であり、その確立が世界的に望まれている。本提案では、我々が開発した2ゾーン型化学 相成長法を用い、新規なGNRの表面合成と物性計測を目指す。今年度は、前年度に有機合成した前駆体原料分子として末端に官能基を有するZ型分子を、我々が開発した2ゾーン型化学相成長法を用いて低真空中で気化させ、高温に加熱した清浄石英表面に接触させて原料分子のラジカルを発生させ、温度制御した 結晶金属基板上でのラジカル重合反 及び脱水素縮環反応により新しい構造を持つGNRを表面合成し、走査型トンネル顕微鏡(STM)を用いて詳細な構造計測を行った。非対称構造と想定される分子構造を観測することができた。
