Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は次元性を制御した希土類錯体の異方性集積構造体を創出することである。希土類錯体は大きな配位数をもち(n = 8~12)、また配位子と金属イオンとの結合に可逆性を有するといった錯体化学的な特徴をもつ。そのため希土類錯体には複雑な幾何異性体が存在し、また動的な構造転移を示す超分子構造を構築することが可能である。それらの異方性集積構造はこれまでになかったユニークなモノフォロジーや円偏光発光などの光学現象を基盤とする新らしい機能創出が期待できる。このような背景のもと我々は最近、希土類イオンと架橋型配位子からなるキラルな多核希土類錯体の構築について検討した。その成果の一つとして、M2L3型のアキラル前駆体錯体がキラル補助配位子との配位子/配位子相互作用によって構造転移を誘起され、4つの希土類イオン核から構成されるM4L6型の環状ヘリケートを形成することを明らかにした。また複数の金属イオンと架橋配位子とによって形成されるキラル構造体に関して、キラル側鎖をもつピレン配位子が正四面体配位を好む亜鉛イオンによって架橋されることで、2つのピレン環がねじれた2量体構造を形成することを見出した。このねじれた2量体構造は大きな円二色性や円偏光発光を示すのに対して、ピレンの単量体はほとんど円二色性および円偏光発光を示さない。このような亜鉛イオンとの相互作用を起点とする光学キラリティーの発現を用いた新しい光センサーの駆動原理を提案立証することに成功した。
