Outline of Annual Research Achievements

テーマ(A)【パイロクロアNd2Ir2O7における磁気八極子秩序による量子臨界現象】
磁気八極子秩序による量子臨界現象を明らかにするために,希土類サイトが非磁性のYとEuのホールドープ効果について調べた。電気抵抗測定から,ホールドープにより磁気八極子秩序が抑制され金属化することが確認された。また磁気八極子秩序が消失する近傍領域にて非フェルミ液体的な温度依存性が観測された。Nd2Ir2O7のホールドープ効果に関する成果は論文投稿準備中である。
テーマ(B)【1次元鎖三角格子系Ca5Ir3O12における非線形伝導と105 Kの相転移の機構解明】
広島大学にて単結晶のラマン散乱を測定し,105K以下で出現する新たなピークを確認した。このことから105Kの相転移が構造相転移を伴うことが明らかにされた(論文発表済)。高次多極子秩序の可能性が示唆される。SPring-8(BL35XU)にて非弾性X線散乱実験を行い,室温でのフォノン励起スペクトルが明らかにされた。その結果はスピン軌道相互作用を考慮した第一原理計算(GGA)によるフォノン分散とよく一致することが分かった(論文発表済)。また,この計算条件においては,構造変化を示唆するソフトフォノンの兆候は見られなかった。一方,構造相転移に伴うフォノンスペクトルの変化を観測するために,低温での非弾性X線散乱実験が進行中である。
前年度の研究成果にて微小な電流密度でも非線形伝導を示すことが明らかになった(論文発表済)。この非線形伝導は電流を印可すると抵抗が小さくなっているため,電流印可した状態での輸送特性(熱電能,ホール効果)が電流密度に依存し変化するが予測される。そこで電流を印可し熱起電力を測定する測定システムを構築し測定を開始した。現時点で熱電能が印可電流密度に応じて変化することを観測した。様々な実験条件にて詳細な実験が進行中である。
