Outline of Annual Research Achievements

帯電した雲粒の衝突併合を通した雨粒の形成速度の変化 (Electro coalescence) を評価する国際共同研究を推進した。前年度までに開発した、帯電した雲粒同士の衝突併合確率に関するモデルをさらに改良した。この新しいElectro coalescenceモデルを、超水滴法に基づく原理的雲解像モデルに実装した。予備実験を通してElectrocoalescenceが水雲に対して一定程度の影響を及ぼしうることを確認した。新しいモデルの詳細とケーススタディの結果を報告する論文の準備を進めている。
氷を伴う混相雲に関しては、エアロゾル粒子や雲粒の帯電による、氷晶核(IN)と過冷却液滴の衝突確率の増大に伴い、氷粒子の生成が促進する可能性が指摘されている(Electroscavenging)。しかし、混相雲に関しては超水滴モデルの性能検証がまだ不十分である。そこで、まずは帯電とは切り離して混相雲モデルの開発と性能評価を行なった。 氷粒子の形態変化を陽に予報できる精緻な数理モデルに対して超水滴法を適用し、混相雲の中で氷晶が生成・成長し霰・雹・雪片を形成していく様をより忠実に表現することのできる数値モデルを構築した。孤立した積乱雲の数値実験を通して性能検証を行ったところ、氷粒子の大きさと質量の関係が経験則と概ね整合しているなど、良好な結果が得られた。モデルの詳細と性能検証の結果を報告する論文を投稿した。査読プロセスは順調に進んでおり、まもなく受理されるものと考えられる。また、超水滴法が氷を伴う雲のシミュレーションにも有効であることをふまえ、雲微物理モデルの将来を論じる論文を出版した。
