Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ハニカム格子をもつグラフェンがDirac coneと呼ばれる特異なバンド構造をもち、特異な電子物性を示すことはよく知られている。我々は、このようなハニカム格子を分子結晶で実現し、バンドフィリング制御から人工的にDirac電子系をつくり出す研究を展開している。ハニカム分子格子をつくり出すため、C3回転軸をもつ立体π共役分子(3つのπ平面から構成され、それらの法線は60°または120°の角度をなす分子)に注目して分子合成を試みている。
本年度は、拡張されたπ共役糸と電子受容体能力をもつ、フェナジン部位をトリプチセン骨格に付加したTrip-Phzを合成した。結晶構造解析を行ったところ、 フェナジン部位間のファンデルワールス相互作用によりハニカム格子が形成され、またCH…N水素結合により、ハニカム骨格が層間で重なり合うことが分かった。その結果、ハニカム格子に垂直に、直径1nm 程度の太い1Dチャネルが形成されることが分かった。トリプチセン分子骨格からは当然だが、この1Dチャネルの内面はアクセプター性をもつπ電子で覆われていると予想される。この構造から引き出される物性を探索するため、この結晶をさまざまな濃度のTTF溶液に浸したところ、電荷移動(CT)吸収体の出現/消失を伴いながら、可逆的にTTFがチャネル内に吸着/脱着され、その吸収強度とTTF溶液濃度の関係はLangmuirの方程式でよく説明されることが分かった。これは、TTFのモノレイヤー吸着を示唆している。ホスト‐ゲスト間のCT相互作用の発現は初めてではないが、吸着量の自在制御はおそらく初めての例である。
