Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では,高分子のからみあい現象を階層的に解析し,ミクロな数理を理解することを目的とした.高分子の「からみあい」と,分子間の幾何的相互作用の関係は,元来全く別の概念である.高分子のからみあい現象はレオロジーなどマクロな物性から定義され,その記述には半現象論的な分子モデルが用いられてきた.しかし,ミクロな幾何的相互作用との関係は不明である.一方,分子シミュレーション技術の発展により,ミクロな幾何的相互作用に関する研究も行われているが,マクロな物性との関係は不明である.
本研究では,応募者独自の数理モデル群を用いて,粘弾性実験により実材料との整合性を担保しつつ,ミクロな分子間の幾何的構造/相互作用とマクロな高分子のからみあい現象との間を階層的に接続することを目論んだ.これによりマクロなからみあい現象のミクロな本質を明らかにすることを目指した.
本年度は,昨年度に確立された多体モデル間の普遍性に基づき,計画通りにポリイソプレンへの適用を試行し,適用可能であることを確認した.理論面では,本研究で検討している多体モデルの一つであるMCSSモデルにおいて,モデル自体がもつ多階層性をシミュレーションで確認した.いずれも本研究で構築している理論の自己整合性を補強する結果である.
からみあいの本質を解析する方向性においても,領域内の数学研究者からのコメントを得て,いくつかのトライを行った.例えばパーシステントホモロジーによる解析を試みたところ,複数の異なるモデルが似通ったパーシステントダイヤグラムを示すことがわかった.しかし従来からわかっていた分子形状の統計分布解析以上の結果は得られず,この方向では十分な進展が得られなかった.
