Outline of Annual Research Achievements

宇宙には、暗黒物質(DM)と呼ばれる見えない物質が存在し、その正体を解明することは宇宙論の大問題となっている。DMの候補として最近、軽い質量を持ったアクシオンDMの研究が重要となってきた。アクシオンDMの大きな特徴はアクシオン場のコヒーレントな振動にある。一方、重力波の直接観測が成功したことにより、重力波を用いたアインシュタイン重力を超える理論の探求は大きな課題となっている。ここではアクシオンとの結合が重要となるチャーン・サイモンズ重力理論に着目する。
本研究の目的は、チャーン・サイモンズ重力理論におけるブラックホール連星等からの重力波の伝搬がアクシオン振動との相互作用によってどのような影響を受けるのかを研究し、時空のパリティーを破れとアクシオンDMの証拠を明らかにすることである。

1. アクシオンDM環境における重力波伝搬を境界条件を考慮して解析し、結合定数の大きさについて重力波干渉計LIGOによってどれだけ制限できるのかを明らかにした。また、 アクシオンとの結合によって重力波の直線偏極が回転することを明らかにした。これは特に宇宙論的な重力波に関して重要となる。
2. アクシオンによる光速からのずれの観測が、アクシオンと重力波の結合定数やアクシオンの存在量に強い制限を与えることを明らかにした。
3. 放射優勢期において、アクシオン振動によるゲージ場の共鳴生成が円偏極した重力波を生成し、それが重力セクターのパリティーの破れを生み出すことを示した。
