骨化順序ヘテロクロニーの揺らぎと制約

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

哺乳類胎子79種総当りで骨化順序の類似度を定量化すべくスピアマン相関値を算出した.体骨格の骨化順序は哺乳類全体で見ると中程度以上の保守性があることが認められた.特に有袋類,げっ歯類,食虫類で二種間類似度が高く,骨化順序の多様度が低いことが示された.また24個の骨の進化的な連動性を分析するため,系統的独立比較を用い,系統間距離の影響を除去した上での24個の骨の相関関係を相関値によって算出した.24個の骨のなかで指骨,趾骨,胸椎,仙椎の種間変動率が特に高いことが示された.他方,手根骨と鎖骨は種間変動率がゼロであり,哺乳類ではこの2つの骨に限って骨化タイミングの変動が全くないことが示された.げっ歯類における各骨の種内変動率と哺乳類全体における種間変動率の相関値を算出したところ,有意な正の相関が認められた.この結果は,種内において骨化順序の変動が起きやすい骨は種間レベルでも骨化順序の変動が起きやすい骨であることを示し,揺らぎ-応答仮説を支持するものである.ただし,強度の相関ではなく中程度の相関であることは,哺乳類における骨化順序の種間変動は全体としては種内変異のパターンを反映するが,他方でロコモーション類型や生活史の特殊化によってそういった拘束を緩和した結果であるためと考えられた.これを検証するため,次にロコモーション類型や生活史のパターン,体サイズと骨化順序の関係性を分析した.ロコモーション類型と骨化順序とには明確な関係性を見出すことはできなかったが,早成型の種と晩成型である種で,四肢骨の形成タイミングが大きく異なることが明らかになった.19種の早成型と45種の晩成型を比較したところ,上腕骨,大腿骨,尺骨,橈骨,脛骨,腓骨の骨化が早成型で有意に早いことが認められ,種における体骨格の骨化順序決定には,新生子が早成型か晩成型かという生活史が大きな要因になっていることが明らかになった.
