Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、黒潮流域で強化される乱流が低次食物網に与える影響を評価することを目的とし、①黒潮流域の乱流に伴う硝酸塩フラックス規模の解明、②乱流に伴う硝酸塩フラックスが低次食物網構造に与える影響の評価、③硝酸塩添加に伴う低次食物網構造および速度過程の変化に関する実験的検証、という3課題を設定した。今年度は、以下のような成果を得た。
課題①:トカラ海峡下流域でも亜表層に高い硝酸塩フラックスに伴うクロロフィル極大が形成されており、トカラ海域の広い範囲で乱流混合による硝酸塩供給が定常的に発生していることが分かった。
課題②:トカラ海峡の上流域から下流域では、乱流混合で供給された硝酸塩による植物・動物プランクトンの増殖だけでなく、沿岸群集の移流によって植物・動物プランクトン現存量や生産力が増大することが分かった。
課題③:栄養塩添加量により増加した植物プランクトン(ハプト藻・シアノバクテリア)は、微小動物プランクトン(無殻繊毛虫・ナノ鞭毛虫)やメソ動物プランクトン(カイアシ類)に速やかに消費されることが分かった。
これらの結果は、①トカラ海域は栄養塩供給のホットスポットであること、②供給された栄養塩は植物プランクトン生産力の増大と速やかな栄養動態を促すこと、③プランクトン現存量が低くても生産力が高い可能性があること、を示唆している。これらの研究成果は国内誌、国際誌に投稿・発表し、国内外の学会で発表した。
