Outline of Annual Research Achievements

人間言語の起源は、語彙項目を対象とする回帰的併合操作の出現にあるとされる。従来この操作は、音韻範疇に対しては適用されないと考えられてきた。しかし、本研究では、音韻範疇(素性)を対象とする併合操作が「語彙化過程」において存在する、ということを、様々な音韻現象の分析を通して明らかにする。これにより、併合操作が適用される言語学的対象物の種類は、従来想定されていたものよりも多種である可能性が生じる。
以上を遂行するにあたり、昨年度に引き続き、研究全体を以下の3種類の部門(A部門: 形態素内音韻属性の語彙化過程の解明、B部門: 極小主義的音韻素性の探求、C部門: 回帰的階層構造の音声的線形化の探求)に分け、それぞれの研究課題に関する文献を調査し、それらの理論上の争点を明確にすることを試みた。その上で、極小論の研究指針に合致するモデルの構築を行った。
研究実施計画に沿って、A部門では、前後関係を完全に廃し、音韻範疇の依存関係のみが音韻特性として語彙的に指定されている形態素内音韻構造を探求を行い、B部門では、独立解釈可能な一値的素性の回帰的併合により構築される構造を、音節領域まで拡張したモデルの構築を行った。また、C部門では、音韻範疇の併合により構築される依存構造が、どのように音声的に解釈を受けるかを探求した。これらを解明するために、各部門ごと、(1)検証すべき仮説を決定したのちに、(2)先行研究の丹念な調査を行った。
そして、各部門での研究進捗状況および成果を詳細に、且つ、統合的に分析した上で、回帰的併合を呈する音韻モデルの構築を試みた。その研究成果は、論文の形で複数の研究雑誌に投稿された。それらの一部は、国内外において(3件)出版された。また、国内外の学会・研究会において(13件)報告された。加えて、この2年間の研究成果は、書籍としてMouton de Gruyterから出版された。
