Outline of Annual Research Achievements

我々はこれまで、Auナノクラスター(NCs)やRh錯体を液相合成し、それらのサイズ変化を防ぎつつ、光触媒上に単分散に担持する技術を確立することで、紫外光応答水分解光触媒の高活性化を達成してきた。一方で、実用化に向けた、さらなるエネルギー変換効率向上のためには、太陽光の約43%を占める可視光の利用が不可欠である。本研究では、水素生成助触媒として広く用いられるPtを、クラスターサイズ領域(<~2 nm)にて調製し、可視光応答光触媒上へ担持することによって、高活性な可視光応答光触媒を創製することに取り組んだ。助触媒担持後の光触媒の透過型電子線顕微鏡像より、本手法を用いると、Pt助触媒粒子(1.2 nm)が、従来法(2.1 nm)と比べて、微小かつ単分散に光触媒上へ担持されることが示された。また、水素生成活性測定より、PtNCs/g-C3N4(本手法)はg-C3N4と比べ、60倍高い水素生成活性を示すことも明らかとなった。さらに、PtNCs/g-C3N4は、PtNPs/g-C3N4(光電着法)と比較しても、4.7倍高い水素生成活性を示すことも明らかにとなった。以上より、Pt NCsをg-C3N4に担持することによって、その高活性化に成功し、我々の確立した光触媒上への金属NCs担持法は、可視光応答光触媒でも有効であることが示された。さらに、活性サイト(表面金属原子)当たりの水素生成活性の向上も示唆され、これはPt NCsの微細化に伴い、Pt-プロトン吸着過程がより有利になったためだと推察される。
