Outline of Research at the Start

クォーク・レプトンのフレーバー構造の起源は、素粒子物理学における重要な謎の1つである。統一理論の有力な候補である超弦理論においては、コンパクト空間の構造が素粒子物理学の様々な性質を決定する。たとえば、トーラスやオービフォルドなどのコンパクト空間は、モジュラー対称性という幾何学的対称性をもっている。そのようなコンパクト空間上の超弦理論から導かれる有効場の理論もモジュラー対称性由来の性質を示し、それはクォーク・レプトンの質量や混合角の値に反映される。この研究は、どのような幾何学的対称性が現実的クォーク・レプトンの質量行列を導くかを研究し、フレーバー構造の観点から、現実的コンパクト化を探求する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、超弦理論のコンパクト化の幾何学を起源として現れるクォーク・レプトンのフレーバー構造の探求である。特に、トーラスやオービフォルド空間がもつモジュラー対称性の解析を行い、背景磁場のあるもつコンパクト空間上のゼロモードの変換性を解析し、その対称性の有限部分群が、A4,S4やその拡張された群がフレーバー対称性となっていることを示した。特に、3世代模型を系統的に分類し、そのフレーバー対称性や湯川行列のパターン等の分類を行った。そして、具体的に、いくつかのコンパクト化の模型において、クォークの質量や混合角などの実験値の導出を可能性を調べた。また、このような実験値を再現するのに重要なパラメータがモジュライ場の真空期待値の値である。その値の決定は、長年、モジュライ固定の問題として認識されていた課題である。モジュライの真空期待値を決定を様々な3-formフラックスをもつコンパクト化において、系統的に行い、どのような値が実現可能か、そのときにCP対称性が自発的に破れる可能性はあるかなどを詳細に調べた。さらにカラビーヤウ多様体上のフレーバー構造やCP対称性の自発的破れなども研究を行った。
そのようなトップダウン的なアプローチの一方で、ボトムアップアプローチとして、モジュラー対称性の有限部分群をフレーバー対称性としてもつ模型の構築や質量や混合角などの実験値の再現する模型を議論し、現在の実験での制限や将来実験への予言等について解析を行った。
