Outline of Research at the Start

南海トラフの巨大地震発生域の浅部延長では、浅部超低周波地震と呼ばれる通常の地震と比べてゆっくりとしたすべり現象（スロー地震）が発生している。本研究では、3次元地震波速度構造モデルを仮定した地震動シミュレーションと陸域の観測波形を併用することで、個々の浅部超低周波地震の発生時刻、断層運動、位置、破壊の継続時間などを正確に評価し、長期間（15年間）の浅部超低周波地震カタログを構築する。その上で、南海トラフで発生する浅部超低周波地震の発生様式を明らかにする。最新の地震波構造探査や測地学的な研究と浅部超低周波地震活動を比較することで、プレート境界浅部における地震学的構造の特徴解明を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

南海トラフの浅部スロー地震活動域の特徴を解明するために、（1）通常の地震の3次元CMT解析、（2）浅部微動の震源時間関数解析へ向けた基盤技術の検討、の2つを行った。

（1）通常の地震の3次元CMT解析　　海溝軸付近で発生する浅部超低周波地震に対して3次元CMT解析をおこなうことでメカニズム解や位置が精度良く拘束された（昨年度実施）。この技術を南海トラフで発生する通常の地震に対しても適用した。すると、これまでプレート境界型の地震がほとんど発生していないと考えられていた地域で、プレート境界型を示唆する低角逆断層のメカニズム解を持つ地震がいくつか発見された。これらの地震は1次元構造による解析では異なるメカニズム解と推定されており、これまで見逃されてきた。2004年4月~2019年8月までの期間で実施したCMT解析と、スロー地震の分布、プレート境界のすべり欠損速度の分布を詳細に比較することで、南海トラフの巨大地震と浅部スロー地震の棲み分けが明確に示された。

（2）浅部微動の震源時間関数解析へ向けた基盤技術の検討　　浅部超低周波地震と同じタイミングで浅部微動が発生することが多々ある。0.02-0.05 Hzの浅部超低周波地震と2-8 Hzに卓越する浅部微動の関係を調べることで、浅部スロー地震の震源物理過程の深化が期待される。紀伊半島南東沖に敷設されたDONET1の記録と地震波伝播シミュレーションを用いて、浅部微動の波形の性質を調べたところ、浅部微動の波形は観測点直下の付加体（海洋堆積物）による増幅とエンベロープ拡大の影響を強く受け、複雑なエンベロープ形状となることを明らかにした。付加体の効果を考慮せずに微動のエネルギーや継続時間を推定すると、大幅に誤推定することを示した。より正確なスロー地震像の解明やプレート境界のすべりモニタリングには、3次元不均質構造の考慮が必要不可欠である。
