Outline of Research at the Start

昨今、地球のように海を湛え生命を育む惑星(ハビタブル惑星)の発見への期待が高まっている。いっとき液体の水を保持する惑星として誕生した天体でも、形成以後の進化過程によっては容易にそのハビタビリティを喪失してしまう。惑星表層の水は大気中で水素と酸素に光解離し、軽い水素は上層大気へ輸送され宇宙空間へ流出していく。本研究の目的は、地球型惑星の水量進化を解明し、ハビタブル惑星の表層環境が長期間維持される条件を解明することである。当該領域が推進する銀河進化・星惑星形成の理論研究・観測と連携することで、銀河系における場所・時間の関数としてのハビタブル惑星の存在確率の解明に貢献する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は,地球型惑星の水量進化を解明し,ハビタブル惑星の表層環境が長期間維持される条件を解明することであった.具体的には,主星からの紫外線照射が引き起こす水(水素)の宇宙空間への流出(大気散逸)率の恒星スペクトル型・軌道長半径・惑星サイズ・初期大気組成への依存性を理論的に調べることで,惑星の表層水量・大気組成の時間進化を明らかにする,というものである.研究実施計画に基づき,大気化学モデルの計算コードを開発し,現在の地球・火星の大気に適用することでモデルの妥当性を確認した.その後,系外惑星へとモデルを適用することで,中心星タイプやバルク大気組成,境界条件(地表面酸化)に応じた水量進化を理論的に明らかにした.
