Outline of Research at the Start

星は高度に圧縮された星間雲(分子雲)から生まれる。従って、銀河における星形成の理解には、分子雲の形成機構の解明が欠かせない。本研究では、分子雲の形成機構として注目を集めている「複数の衝撃波層による連鎖的分子雲形成モデル」(Inutsuka et al. 2015, A&A, 580, 49) に着目、その観測的検証を目指す。具体的には、超新星残骸の衝撃波に付随する分子雲をかつてない高い空間分解能で解像し、その形状や物理的性質を明らかにする。これを理論モデルと比較することで、分子雲の進化形成機構を追究する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、分子雲の形成機構として注目を集めている「複数の衝撃波層による連鎖的分子雲形成モデル」(Inutsuka et al. 2015, A&A, 580, 49) の観測的検証を最終目的とする。その達成のために、超新星残骸や電離領域の境界面に位置する分子雲を十分な空間分解能で解像し、衝撃波によって進化・形成された分子雲のフィラメント状分布およびその物理量を明らかにして、理論モデルとの比較検討を行う。本年度は、ALMA により得られた観測データの解析および成果発表に注力した。主な研究成果は以下の通りである。
[1] 超新星残骸 RXJ1713.7-3946 に付随する分子雲を、ALMA 電波干渉計を用いて ~0.02 pc という前例のない空間分解能で解像した。結果として、直径 ~0.06-0.10 pc, 密度 ~10^4 cm^-3 の粒状またはフィラメント状の矮小分子雲を数十個特定した。これらは超新星爆発母天体からの恒星風圧縮によって形成されたとみられ、高密度なため衝撃波に曝されながらも生き残った成分であることが明らかになった。フィラメント状分子雲の形成・進化を紐解く上で重要な観測結果である。成果は The Astrophysical Journal Letters に筆頭著者論文として投稿・出版済みである。
[2] 超新星残骸 W28 に付随する分子雲を、ALMA ACA によって ~0.06 pc の空間分解能で解像した。結果として、幅 ~0.1 pc、典型的な線密度 20-30 太陽質量/pc のフィラメント状分子雲を多数発見した。これらは星形成を伴っていないことから、超新星残骸の衝撃波によって過去数万年の間に形成された高密度分子雲と解釈した。本成果は国内外の研究会で講演し、現在査読つき論文としてまとめている。
