Outline of Research at the Start

地球のような水が豊かで生命を育む惑星は、惑星表層環境や惑星大気の組成が重要である。惑星大気は惑星形成過程に進化する。そのため、最新の惑星形成理論に基づき惑星大気の形成や進化を調べることが、地球のような惑星形成を考える上で必要である。本研究では、最新の惑星形成シミュレーションを用いて、惑星大気の進化を調べる。その結果は、水惑星を形成する条件を明らかにすることが期待される。また、これにより太陽系外惑星系での水惑星の形成や木星や土星周りの衛星系における水衛星の形成についても議論が可能になるだろう。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

地球の表層環境の形成を調べるために、(1)木星による氷微惑星の地球への輸送と(2)微惑星の古地球への衝突に伴う蒸発過程を調べた。(1)の過程は、木星がいつできるかに依存するため、木星の形成過程についてまずは調べた。従来の研究では木製形成は非常に難しく原始惑星系円盤が残っている間(数百万年程度)に作るのも困難と言われていたが、私はダストの成長から包括的に調べる「統一シミュレーション」を実施し、その結果、数十万年で木星形成が可能ということを示した。また、木星が形成される時に大量の氷微惑星が木星の周りに残ることもわかった。この結果は、Kobayashi & Tanaka (2021)にまとめた。また、Shibata et al. (2023)で残存微惑星が木星のガス集積中にどのくらい木星に集積されるかも調べ、木星への集積は半分以下であることも突き止めた。その結果、残存の氷微惑星がどの程度、地球へ運ばれ得るかをN体シミュレーションに基づき解析的により求めた。その結果、原始惑星系円盤の散逸に伴い非常に多くの氷微惑星を地球へ輸送できることがわかった。そして、現在の地球の水の量を優位に超える氷微惑星を輸送しないために微惑星のサイズが10km以下程度と制限がつけられることも分かった。この結果を日本天文学会2023年春季年会で発表した。
一方、(2)の過程を調べるために衝突シミュレーションを行った。衝突に伴う蒸発量は最高到達内部エネルギー等が重要になる。シミュレーションを行い詳細に調べるとともに、解析的にも調べた。その結果、シミュレーションを再現できる解析解を導出することに成功した。この結果は投稿中媚中である。
