Outline of Research at the Start

活性炭に代表される多孔性炭素は、古くから我々の身の回りで用いられてきた普遍的な物質であるが、近年では二次電池やキャパシタといったエネルギーデバイスの電極材料として必要不可欠なものとなっている。本研究では、幾何学構造に基づいた多孔質炭素材料の新しい作製法と電極材料への応用を目的に、(i)MOFを鋳型とする極小曲面多孔性炭素の創製と電極特性開拓、(ii)グラフェンを用いた極小曲面多孔性炭素の創製と電極特性開拓、の二つの実験系テーマを実施する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、金属有機構造体(MOF)の有する離散幾何学的な三次元極小曲面構造の違いが、得られる多孔性炭素の構造および電極特性にどう影響を与えるかを調べるため、3種類の極小曲面構造(SchwarzのP曲面およびD曲面、SchoenのG曲面)を対象に、それらの曲面構造に対応するMOF(それぞれCubic構造、diamond構造、gyroid構造を取るMOF)を選択し、それを鋳型とする炭素を作成し、その負極特性を検討した。その結果、Gyroid炭素は初期容量963mAh/gを示し、2サイクル目以降、約600mAh/gで安定化した。Diamond炭素は、初期容量1019mAh/gを示し、その後容量は2サイクル目の580mAh/gから100サイクル目の666 mAh/gまで増加した。一方で、cubic炭素は、1サイクル目は683mAh/gを示し、2サイクル目は422mAh/gに減衰したが、それ以降の容量は徐々に上昇し、100サイクル目の容量は509mAh/gとなった。炭素負極材料の容量は、グラファイトの場合、6つの炭素当たり一つのリチウムイオンが挿入されることで計算されることから、表面積との相関関係が考えられる。領域内の数学者であるA03班の内藤らとの共同研究より、cubic、diamond、gyroid構造炭素の容量の違いは、焼成する前のMOFの極小曲面構造に基づいた表面積の差に由来する可能性が示された。これらの内容は現在、論文として投稿準備中である。
