Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、ダイナミックな運動が可能な分子からなる、水素結合有機構造体(HOF)の創成と新奇機能開拓を行う。異なる反転の活性化障壁を有するπ拡張シクロオクタテトラエンのテトラカルボン酸からなるHOF を複数合成し、その運動に基づくこれまでにない機能の発現を実現する。結晶中の分子の変形により物性が非線形的に変化し、それを外部条件により制御・モニターできる系の実現を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、ダイナミックHOF群の創製とそれに基づく機能発現を実現するため、異なる運動性及び運動自由度を有する分子、および光学・電子物性と分子運動性を併せ持つHOF分子群の合成を行った。具体的にはテトラ[2,3]チエニレンとカルボン酸の間にπ共役ユニット(フェニレン・フェニルエチニレン)を連結した分子を合成した。これらの分子はテトラ[2,3]チエニレンでは見られない可視光領域の強い吸収や発光が観測されており、HOF構造中での分子運動に基づく大きな色調変化が期待できる。分子群の合成においてはこれまで用いてきたテトラ[2,3]チエニレンの構造異性体である、テトラ[3,4]チエニレンに着目しそれらの構造異性体の構造的、光学的特性を比較、検証した。具体的にはテトラ[2,3]チエニレンおよびテトラ[3,4]チエニレンにπ共役ユニットを連結した分子を合成した。これらのUV-VisおよびCV測定から、両構造異性体で大きく光学特性、酸化還元特性が異なるということを見出した。テトラ[2,3]チエニレンおよびテトラ[3,4]チエニレン末端にカルボン酸部位を導入した化合物を合成し、その結晶化によるHOF構築を試み、スペーサーの有無により結晶の安定性が大きく異なることが明らかとなった。
テトラチエニレンフレームワークを基盤とした多孔体創製を試みた。その結果、テトラチエニレンを基盤とした有機多孔体が得られたことを示唆する結果を得ることができた。今後、この多孔体の構造及び物性について詳細な検討を行っていく予定である。
上記の研究と並行して、弱い分子間相互作用に基づく動的な有機分子集合体の創製と機能開拓を行った。1,3,5-ベンゼントリカルボキサミドにキラルアルキル鎖を導入した分子では、直鎖のものと比べ抗電場の小さい強誘電体となることを見出した。発光性有機分子ガラスの特異な物性を明らかにすることができた。
