Outline of Research at the Start

連星ブラックホール合体および連星中性子星合体からの重力波直接検出により、重力波天文学が幕を開けた。重力波「天文学」の創生に関し重要な話題の一つに、これらコンパクト星からなる連星系の形成過程がある。本課題では近接連星中性子星の形成において鍵となると考えられている「Ultra-Stripped Supernovae(USSNe)」と呼ばれる、特異な超新星の探査を行う。せいめい望遠鏡で超新星観測を遂行することでUSSNeの候補天体を見つけ、さらに理論予測との比較からUSSNeとして特定する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

せいめい望遠鏡を用いた観測データをもとに、連星中性子星形成に至る過程で発生すると考えられるタイプの超新星(Ultra Stripped Supernovae: USSNe)の候補天体探査を行った。一件の候補天体を報告し(Nakaoka, Maeda et al. 2021)、またUSSNeと表裏一体にある電子捕獲型超新星の候補天体を発見・報告した(Hiramatsu et al. 2021; プレスリリース)。
この課題に必要なせいめい望遠鏡による超新星観測の整備を進め、様々な観測的成果を査読論文として報告している(e.g., Jiang et al. 2021, 2022; プレスリリース)。また、USSNeと密接な関係にある"Strippen-Envelope SNe(SESNe)"の観測研究を遂行し、査読誌に複数編の論文を発表した(e.g., Maeda et al. 2023ab, プレスリリース)。輻射輸送、流体進化、元素合成、多波長放射など、様々な観点からの理論研究も行った(e.g., Kwok et al. 2022, Fang et al. 2022, Yasuda et al. 2022, Maeda et al. 2021)。
USSNeの長時間進化の理論研究も行い、我々の銀河系や近傍銀河におけるUSSN残骸の探査の可能性について議論した(Matsuoka et al. 2022)。SESNの光度の統計解析を行い、USSNeをはじめとする暗い超新星で未発見のものがまだ多数存在することを指摘し、その将来的な観測可能性を検討した(Ouchi et al. 2021)。
以上、本課題実施の2021-2022年度において、国際査読誌に26編の論文を発表している。
