Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、第一原理計算により、SrTiO3中の転位芯近傍における磁性と強誘電特性の発現の有無を評価し、電子状態を解析することでその発現機構を原子・電子レベルから解明することを目的とする。さらに、局所的な量子力学応力を解析する手法を開発し、これを用いて転位芯近傍の力学場解析を実施し、発現する磁性・強誘電特性とミクロな応力場との関連性(マルチフィジックス原理)を検討する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

欠陥部では、完全結晶とは異なり欠陥固有の原子構造とそれによる電子状態により、固有の力学場(応力場)が生じている。この欠陥力学場を抽出するため、本年度は、応力を電子的自由度まで拡張し、個々の電子(軌道)が受け持つ応力を分解する独自理論(量子応力場)を構築した。LCAO法をもとに波動関数を展開し、エネルギーを原子軌道ごとに分解する理論を構築した。さらに、得られるエネルギーをひずみで微分することで、原子軌道ごとに応力成分を分解するための定式化に成功した。
上記で開発した量子応力場理論とその定式化をもとに、現有の第一原理解析プログラムに量子応力場解析機能を実装した。さらに、このプログラムを科学技術並列計算機に実装し、並列解析環境で効率的に計算が実施できるよう環境整備を行った。まず、量子応力場理論の妥当性を検証するため、原子鎖や単結晶などの比較的単純なシステムに本手法を適用した。その結果、量子応力場は、化学結合論的な安定性と良い相関があることが判明し、提案理論の妥当性・有効性が実証された。さらに、この技術を用いて、欠陥周囲の力学場とそれに伴う結合電子状態、それに対応する個々の電子応力を解析した。本手法は、原子の欠損をともなう格子欠陥だけでなく、電子レベルの欠陥(正孔によるポーラロン)が作る応力場までも解析できることを示した。今後は、本手法により得られる欠陥の量子応力場によって、欠陥機能発現の電子論・力学論的メカニズムの解明が進むことが期待できる。
