Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では材料の化学構造、それによって決定する局所水和構造、水和によって引き起こされる界面相互作用を系統的に解析する。具体的には精密表面間力測定(原子間力顕微鏡:AFM)で観測されるナノメートルスケールで作用する相互作用と、AFMで可視化される水和構造、表面増強赤外分光・X線発光分光測定で明らかとなる界面水分子の水素結合状態の関係を詳細に解析する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題においては、モデル有機物表面である金ーチオール系の自己組織化単分子膜(
Self-assembled monolayers: SAMs)の近傍の水分子の振る舞いの解析のため原子間力顕微鏡(Atomic force microscopy: AFM)、X線発光分光法(X-ray photoemission spectroscopy)を用いた解析を行った。その結果、抗付着性(抗タンパク質吸着・抗細胞接着特性)を持つ単分子膜近傍には、バルクの水とは異なり、タンパク質あるいは細胞の接近を防ぐ様な界面の水分子の障壁があることを報告した。またこの水分子層の障壁は、抗付着性SAMの親水性・疎水性に関わらず存在することが明らかとなり、界面の水分子の振る舞いと抗付着性の関係性が明らかとなった。
また、本課題においては情報科学的手法(機械学習・多変量解析)を用いてSAMを構成する分子の化学構造から水への濡れ性、タンパク質(フィブリノーゲン)の吸着量を予測するアルゴリズムの構築を行った。この成果は情報科学を用いたバイオマテリアル設計の先駆的成果として、新聞、WEBメディアなどでも紹介された。
