熱的物性測定による多f電子系におけるc-f混成効果とラットリングの研究

Research Abstract

本研究では多極子自由度やラットリング自由度を持つ系におけるc-f混成効果に起因した新しいタイプの重い電子状態の解明を目的とし、熱的測定(比熱、熱電能、熱膨張)から研究項目(A)【多f電子系における混成効果による有効質量増大】と研究項目(B)【ラットリングによる有効質量増大と新奇現象を示す新物質探索】について研究を行った,本年度の成果は以下の通りである.
1.PrOs_4P_<12>におけるc-f混成効果による結晶場励起の比熱のT^3依存性の発見(研究項目(A))
充填スクッテルダイトPrOs_4P_<12>は結晶場一重項基底状態、46Kに励起三重項状態を持つ.比熱の詳細な解析から、強いc-f混成効果により低温極限にて結晶場励起による電子比熱CがT^3依存性を示す事を見いだした.現象論的な数値計算から、このようなT^3依存性が現れる事を確認した.これはc-f混成効果の強い非クラマース多f電子系において普遍的現象であると考えられる.
2.SmOs_4P_<12>における大きな正のグリューナイゼン定数の観測(研究項目(A))
4.6Kで反強磁性体秩序を示すSmOs_4P_<12>の熱膨張測定を行い、グリューナイゼン定数を求めた.その結果、10K以下で30程度の大きな正値を示す事が判った.これは知りうる限りSm化合物では最大の値である.この結果から、SmOs_4P_<12>は近藤格子系反強磁性体と考えられる.また、低温比熱の詳細な解析から、反強磁性秩序状態においても電子比熱係数が500mJ/K^2 moleと大きな値を示す事が判った.
3.PrOs_4P_<12>における低温比熱の増大(研究項目(B))
1K以下のゼロ磁場比熱にて観測された増大が核四極子分裂では説明困難であることが判った.Prイオンのオフセンターラットリングと強いc-f混成効果との関係が推測される.
