Research Abstract

ソフト界面に形成される吸着膜(ギブズ膜)は、ベシクル、エマルション、生体膜などのより複雑で柔らかい分子組織体の基本骨格を成しており、それらの構造と機能の相関解明にはソフト界面ギブズ膜の構造解析が不可欠である。本研究では、ソフト界面に形成される多重膜を対象に、その形成原理を凝縮単分子膜との構造相関に着目し、界面張力、ブリュースター角顕微鏡(BAM)、X線反射率(XR)の静的・動的測定を駆使して巨視・微視両観点から解明することを目指している。
本年度は、フルオロカーボン(FC)鎖を有するFCアルコール(FC12OH)とFC鎖末端の一個のフッ素原子を水素に置換し、末端双極子を有する1H-ペルフルオロデカン(HFC10)との混合系に対して界面張力の高精度測定によるギブズ膜状態の解析を行い以下の知見を得た。
1)単独成分系では現れない多重膜が、FC12OHとHFC10との混合により凝縮単分子膜の形成を経て初めて出現するシナジズム現象を世界で初めて見出した。
2)凝縮単分子膜中では主にFC鎖間の分散力相互作用により、ヘキサン/水界面で負吸着するHFC10がFC12OH分子と共に混合するが、FC鎖との相互作用が弱いハイドロカーボン(HC)アルコールとHFC10との混合系では凝縮単分子膜にはHFC10はほとんど混和しない。
3)上記の結果は、多重膜の基盤構造である凝縮単分子膜中でのHFC10分子の存在が、分子の自発的積層の引き金となっていることを示している。
4)凝縮単分子膜中に存在するHFC10分子の末端双極子間相互作用、FC鎖間の分散力相互作用、ヒドロキシル基間の水素結合が分子積層の駆動力となっている。
これらの成果は、国内外のコロイド・界面科学分野における主要学会において極めて新規性の高いものであると評価されるに至った。
