Outline of Research at the Start

金属-水素(ヒドリド)化合物を鍵とする酵素反応の作用機序に着想を得つつ、その要点を抽出して低分子の金属-水素化合物として具現化したM-M水素化物(M = 遷移金属)を、高い反応性を付与しつつ系統的に構築する。さらに、新しいM-M水素化物を用い、酵素機能や既存の分子触媒を凌駕する高効率反応を開発する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

錯体中に金属中心を2つ有する二核金属錯体は、金属同士の共同効果により、単核錯体では達成できない反応を実現できる。2つの金属が関わる反応場を提供する新たな配位子として、本研究では2つのシクロペンタジエニル(Cp)基あるいはフルオレニル(Fl)基を連結させたチオラート配位子を設計・合成した。昨年度の本研究では二つのコバルト原子を取り込んだCo-Co二核錯体が得られることを確認したが、溶解度が高すぎて単離精製が困難であった。今年度の本研究では、用いるコバルト源を塩化コバルトや臭化コバルトからヨウ化コバルトへ変更することで生成物の溶解度を低下させ、収率58%でCo-Co二核錯体を単離することに成功した。Co-Co二核錯体には架橋ハロゲン原子が1つ存在し、その元素をCl、Br、Iへと変化させるとCo-Co結合長も長くなることが判明した。単離したヨウ素架橋Co-Co二核錯体を用いて、窒素分子の触媒的還元反応(シリル化)や二酸化炭素から炭化水素への直接変換反応を検討したが、いずれの反応においても触媒活性は低いことが判明した。そこで一酸化炭素の還元反応へと標的反応を切り替えた結果、低活性ながらCOからメタンを中心とする炭化水素への還元反応が進行することが明らかになった。これらの触媒反応において、金属間を架橋する硫黄原子が反応を阻害している可能性も考え、架橋原子を硫黄からリンへ変更した新たな配位子を設計し、合成を検討した。しかし鍵段階であるケイ素基の転移反応が想定通りに進行せず、チオラート配位子と同様な合成ルートは成立しない様子が判明した。
