本研究では、ニュートリノ実験用の次世代大型液体アルゴンTPCの早期実現を目的として、87 Kという液体アルゴン温度で動作するcryogenic electronicsを自分たちの手で設計・開発できる環境を確立する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究の目的は、ニュートリノ実験への応用を目指して、液体アルゴン温度で動作するcryogenic electronicsの開発を行うことである。令和4年度の研究では、液体アルゴンTPC用の実機読み出し回路として、信号増幅回路などのアナログ回路だけでなく、メモリを含むデジタル回路と組み合わせたアナログ・デジタル混載型フロントASICを製作した。実際の回路設計では、KEKにある小型液体アルゴンTPCを読み出すことを想定して、外部トリガー信号や連続読み出しにも対応できる機能を追加した。また令和3年までの研究で使用したSilterra社の180 nm CMOSプロセスが利用できなくなったため、代替プロセスとしてTSMC社の180 nm CMOSプロセスを使用して設計を行なっているが、プロセスマイグレーションでアナログ性能が劣化しないように、回路シミュレータを用いて2つのプロセスでトランジスタパラメータの違いが雑音性能にどのように影響するかを詳細に検討し、低温環境におけるトランジスタの閾値電圧の変化にも耐えうるような仕様としている。それと並行してトランジスタ単体の電流・電圧特性をTSMC社のプロセスでも調査するためのテストチップを試作した。
