Outline of Research at the Start

昆虫は,環境変化のみならず自身の身体構造が変化しても移動を可能とする適応能力を有している.この能力の解明は,生物学に貢献するだけでなく昆虫にも比肩しうる能力を有するロボットの工学的実現への基盤技術となり,ソフトロボットの制御および知能化に資する.本研究では,研究代表者が開発したMotion Hacking法(昆虫自身の感覚運動機能を残存させた状態で,筋への電気刺激により,脚の運動をハッキングする方法)を用いることで,介入者の意図通りに脚の運動を制御したときの昆虫自身の神経系による脚間協調過程を観察することで,その背後に隠れた「しなやかな歩行制御戦略」を解明する.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

目的達成のため,以下の手順で研究を進める.Step1(筋モデル):実験データから,電気刺激-筋出力特性の個体差を含む階層ベイズモデル化.Step2(身体モデル): 筋モデルと無負荷運動データから,順運動学により昆虫の身体の力学的特性を推定する.Step3(歩行モデル): 歩行中の筋刺激による脚間協調変容データから歩行制御機序を抽出する.
[令和4(2022)年度]
「歩行中の脚運動制御に基づく位相応答解析による歩行リズム調整機序のモデル化」歩行中に筋を電気刺激し歩行運動に介入した際の,脚運動の変化を定量化した.得られたデータに対して,位相応答解析を行うことで,介入脚における歩行リズム調整機序をモデル化した.具体的には,脚の運動位相を,計測した歩行周期に基づく位相振動子でモデル化し,位相応答関数を推定した.得られた位相応答関数から,電気刺激した筋特性が歩行のリズム制御に与える影響を明らかにした.

昆虫の歩行時の筋への電気刺激データから,Motion Hackingによる昆虫の歩行への介入が,昆虫の歩行運動を「動物リザバー」として解析できる可能性を検証した.ミズクラゲをあらたな実験生物をして採用し,Motion Hackingによる浮遊運動の制御方策を検証した.さらに,ソフトな身体を活用するミズクラゲの浮遊をリザバーとして据えることで,その浮遊運動のメカニズムを解明することを試みた.
