Outline of Research at the Start

独自の研究基盤であるV字型分子をシリーズ化し、分子性材料にもかかわらず高分子鎖の化学架橋や絡み合いに匹敵する高い破壊強度を誇る『高密度共役材料』を開発するとともに、光照射のON/OFFで構造が崩壊/再生して界面の粘弾性をリアルタイム制御できる光脱着や光軟化の機能を付与する。またサブテーマとして、三角型分子の平面充填を制御し、新しい超分子ナノシートに基づく固体物理化学の展開に挑戦する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

これまでに、中央に8員環をもつ独自のV字型分子が、必然的に両腕でスリップした二重πスタッキング構造を形成し、V字型集積構造に特有の非常に強い凝集力を示すことを見出してきた。今回、主要な成果として、二重πスタック構造を誘起するV字型分子をシリーズ化し、分子性材料にもかかわらず高分子鎖の化学架橋や絡み合いに匹敵する高い破壊強度を誇る『高密度共役材料』を開発することに成功した。特にトリフェニレン骨格をV字型分子の腕の構造にもつTP-FLAPは、光照射のON/OFFで構造が崩壊/再生して界面の粘弾性をリアルタイム制御できる光脱着や光軟化の機能を備えた。さらに、ナフタレンイミド骨格を腕にもつV字型分子の二重パイスタック構造を、PDMS高分子鎖をつなぐ物理架橋として応用することで、有機溶媒を含む超分子ゲルを作成した。このゲルは、光照射によって流動化させることができ、この現象は二重πスタック構造が乱れて一時的に物理架橋密度が低下したことを示唆している。このように、水素結合を一切利用しないゲルの形成は珍しく、吸湿性を示さないため湿度の高い環境でも材料構造が保たれると期待できる。また、上記の両材料は光照射をストップさせると軟化や流動化が停まるという可逆性をもち合わせており、リアルタイムの可逆的な光成形が可能な材料の開発につながる。今後、物理架橋を形成しているπスタック構造がおよそ何量体を形成しているのか、といった詳細の解析を進める予定である。
また、サブテーマとして、立体障害の小さいシクロオクタテトラエンを角にもつ三角形のベルト分子を合成し、結晶構造解析に成功した。三角形分子は結晶中で2次元シート状に集まり、積層構造を形成していた。今後、引力的相互作用を形成し、なおかつ面を重ねて二量化するような平面構造を三角形の辺の部分に導入した分子を合成することで、超分子シートと呼べる材料の開発を目指す。
