Research Abstract

カーボンナノチューブ(CNT)は、その物性が構造に依存していることがよく知られており、その精緻な応用には物性の制御された、即ち、構造の制御されたカーボンナノチューブが必要となる。そのような背景から、報告者らは構造の制御されたCNTを得ることを目的に、分子認識を利用した方法論をデザインし、現在、検討を進めている。具体的には、CNTとピンセット型ジポルフィリン化合物からなる超分子を鍵とする、CNTの可溶化、ならびに、それに伴うCNTの構造選別である。
当研究グループでは、これまでにm-phenylene,pyridilene,carbazolyleneをスペーサーとするピンセット型ジポルフィリンを設計、合成し、単層カーボンナノチューブ(SWNTs)の抽出を行い、上記ピンセット型分子がSWNTsの右巻き、左巻きを識別し、光学活性SWNTsを与えることを明らかにしてきた。
また、このピンセット型分子は、巻き方のみならず、直径をも識別することも見出した。また、ごく最近、上記のジポルフィリン化合物より合成が簡便なジピレン化合物を設計、合成し、SWNTの選択的な抽出を行ったところ、ジピレン化合物がSWNTsの抽出能を有すること、また、SWNTsの直径を識別できることが明らかとなった。
以上の成果に基づき、23年度は、carbazolyleneスペーサーの窒素上にアルキル基を導入し、分子ピンセットのメタノール溶媒への溶解性を高めることで、その選択性のさらなる向上が達せられた。その成果はNanoscaleに掲載され、また、2011年第10号のinside cover pictureに採択され、報告者らの成果を広くアピールすることができた。さらに、pyridileneスペーサーを有する分子ピンセットを以前用いた65-CoMoCATではなく、より大きな径を有する76-CoMoCATの分離に用いたところ、直径が0.84-0.92nmと狭い範囲のSWNTsを選択性よく得ることに成功した。さらに、従来得られてきた(6,5),(7,6)以外の(8,4),(9,1),(9,4)等の光学活性カーボンナノチューブを得ることに成功した。この成果は、Org. Biomol. Chem.の10周年記念号に、近く掲載される予定である。
